RESEARCH OFFICER


The Institute for Conflict Research (ICR) is an independent Belfast-based charity engaged in participative action research on issues related to conflict. ICR's portfolio includes projects locally, nationally and internationally. ICR has a track record in research and dissemination, and has a social mission to impact policy and practice.

We wish to recruit a research officer to join our existing research team. The person we seek must meet the following criteria:

1. Research experience in issues relating to one or more of the following areas: - young people, policing, minority ethnic groups and sexual orientation issues.
2. Experience in conducting focus groups, interviews, surveys and in report writing.
3. Knowledge of quantitative methods and a working knowledge of SPSS are also desirable.
4. Candidates must also be able to work independently, be willing to work flexible and sometimes unsocial hours, have a clean, current driving license and access to a car.
5. Ability to commence work within 2 weeks of interview.

Employment would be on a six-month contract in the first instance, but longer-term contracts may become available subject to ICR obtaining funding for future projects. Salary £21,867-£25,407 (NJC Points 29 - 34) per annum pro rata according to qualifications and experience.
