Belfast City Council’s Good Relations Department has commissioned the Institute for Conflict Research and Dr Robin Wilson to conduct a study of hate crime and wider issues of discrimination against individuals of Muslim background in the city. The study aims to investigate the extent of anti-Muslim hatred and discrimination within Belfast, its impact on individuals and the Muslim community and what is known about those who commit such crimes. The research findings will feed into the Council’s Good Relations programme and specifically will inform the Council’s Good Relations Action Plan, under the Safe Communities theme.
