Storytelling and narrative-making can help make sense of the worlds we live in. When undertaken sensitively it can positively impact individuals whose communities are in transition and emerging from conflict.
Working with Traveller women through Bryson and An Munia Tober who wanted their experiences of life on the road not to be lost to their families, we produced a book with illustrations of the stories they valued. Library Services NI included the publication in all their libraries, including mobile libraries, and developed a policy to ensure any children from Traveller backgrounds would be supported to access the publication.
ICR has worked closely over several years with the John Hewitt Society sponsoring talks, workshops and presentations. Creating the Hilden Mill Soundscape is but one of the many collaborations we are pleased to have been able to have worked on together. We thank the Big Telly Theatre Company and Gareth McConaghie for their work with us on this project.
