ICR uses photography to stimulate discussion as well as encourage reflection and build skills of people to understand their world and that of their neighbours, a little bit better.
We work with both community artists and photo journalists in the creation of exhibitions which in turn are used to encourage discussions and panel presentations in galleries, museums, libraries and other public spaces.
Working with Mariusz Smejek we collaborate with both the John Hewitt Society and Belfast City of Sanctuary to raise awareness of and show comparisons between the social conditions and service prevision provided to asylum seekers and refugees throughout Ireland, Britain and Italy.
Poetry in Place
After a series of site visits, women from the Ards Peninsula worked with Jane McComb to explore a sense of place using photographic exploration of Louis MacNeice’s poetry. Their work has been exhibited at the Georgian Gallery and in Portferry Library.
