“Growing Understanding” programme, as part of the wider Building Positive Relations initiative, seeks to provide support to local communities to build understanding, dialogue, integration and collaboration between people of different backgrounds. The programme is targeted at areas where there is a greater predominance of hate crimes. The objective is to facilitate dialogue and engagement through best practice workshops, site visits, local action plans and an end-of-programme event to deliver plans to council. The culmination of the project is an international visit to Krakow and Auschwitz-Birkenau to be immersed in a culture that has made strides to move on from a divided past.
The programme is cross-community and cross-border and will help to develop understanding and trust, dispel myths and create intercultural learning experiences.
Project supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)
